Here’s my cover of John Martyn’s beautiful song ‘Spencer the Rover’.
A classic story song that many of us can relate to – the desire to escape and be untethered, in conflict with the need to belong.

Tuning is DADGAD and the guitar is down half a step. This key (capo 4, guitar down a half step) is how JM often played it live but a semitone down from the Sunday’s Child album version.
He often tuned down one or two steps from standard and I like the softer tone this can bring.
